IMPORTANT OPERATIONAL UPDATE: Fuel Pricing and Emergency Fuel Surcharge – May 2026

Fuel Pricing and Emergency Fuel Surcharge – May 2026

At Hi-Lift Company (HLC), we prioritises clear communication and operational transparency for all our partners across Papua New Guinea. We are writing to provide an urgent update regarding a shift in the regional fuel landscape and how it impacts your logistics and transport planning, effective 15 May 2026.

Navigating the Shift to Market Pricing

Following the latest fuel pricing update from Islands Petroleum, fuel prices in PNG have transitioned to world market pricing as of 15 May 2026. While the industry received subsidy payments in April, no further subsidy payments have been received for the month of May.

Consequently, the subsidised March 2026 price levels are no longer sustainable for fuel suppliers. Pricing has now been adjusted to reflect current replacement costs on the global market. At Hi-Lift, we understand that these movements directly affect your supply chain continuity, costing, and long-term planning. Our team remains committed to aligning our operational charges with these official market updates to ensure the resilience of your logistics network.

Ensuring Continuity: The Emergency Fuel Surcharge

While fuel remains available and our logistics operations continue as normal, the significant increase in fuel costs necessitates a change in our surcharge structure. To maintain the high standard of reliable transport and logistics support you expect from HLC, we are implementing an Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS).

Key Pricing Details Effective 15 May 2026:

  • Diesel Fuel Price: K7.18 per litre.
  • Emergency Fuel Surcharge: A new EFS of 29% will apply to transport operations.
  • Client-Specific Surcharges: All current and regular client-specific surcharges will remain as is, unless we advise you otherwise.

Our Commitment to Your Supply Chain

We know that price volatility is a challenge for any business. HLC continues to monitor official supplier notices and market fluctuations closely. We will communicate any further changes to you as soon as new information becomes available, ensuring you can adjust your budgets and schedules with confidence.
