Emergency Fuel Surcharge Withdrawn

Hi‑Lift Company Ltd advises clients, partners, suppliers and service providers of an update to fuel‑related pricing arrangements following recent announcements by the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission (ICCC) and the Government of Papua New Guinea.

ICCC Fuel Pricing Context

The ICCC has confirmed that domestic fuel prices in Papua New Guinea are adjusted on a monthly basis and released on the 8th day of each month, in accordance with the Import Parity Price (IPP) framework.

For April 2026, the ICCC initially gazetted a significant increase in domestic fuel prices effective 8 April 2026, with the Port Moresby diesel price set at K7.69 per litre, driven by external global market and geopolitical factors.

Subsequently, the Government of Papua New Guinea implemented a Fuel Relief Assistance package, administered through the ICCC and relevant agencies, which has reset domestic pump prices back to March 2026 levels, effective 16 April 2026.

Impact on Hi‑Lift Pricing

As a direct result of the ICCC‑confirmed price reset and Government subsidy:

  • The diesel reference price has reduced from K7.69/L back to March 2026 levels
  • The previously advised Emergency Fuel Surcharge component has fully fallen away
  • Clients will continue on the same fuel pricing basis that applied in March 2026
  • No emergency or additional fuel‑related surcharge is currently being applied

All other rates, tariffs, and commercial arrangements remain unchanged.

Ongoing Alignment

Hi‑Lift confirms that fuel pricing impacts and any associated surcharges will continue to be:

  • Reviewed and adjusted in as close to real time as practicable, strictly in line with theICCC’s monthly fuel price determinations and formal adjustment or reset announcements
  • Referenced directly to ICCC‑gazetted indicative retail fuel prices, including any Government‑directed relief or subsidy mechanisms
  • Applied proportionally and transparently, increasing or decreasing in line with verified fuel price movements

Our Commitment

Hi‑Lift remains committed to:

  • Transparency and good‑faith cost pass‑through
  • Regulatory alignment with ICCC pricing frameworks
  • Clear and timely communication of any future fuel‑related adjustments
  • We will communicate any future reintroduction of fuel surcharges, should market conditions require.
